Goal(s)
Students must be aware of biotech industry creations which exist today, the current research carried out in this domain and what applications (products and processes) could emerge in the next 20 years.
Industrial case studies: processes, logistics.
Analysis of economic, environmental or social implications of some products or processes.
Content(s)
• Basic knowledge of cellular and molecular microbiology.
• Essential notions in cell biology and molecular biology.
• Microbial biotechnologies: cells, metabolisms, metabolites, proteins.
• Plant biotechnologies: various applications of genetically modified plants.
• Animal biotechnologies: cell cultures, cell therapy, cloning.
• Processes: logistic aspects of biotechnological industries.
High school level in Biology.
- Assignments, presentations - presence at lectures is obligatory.
