Goals

At the end of this course the student should be able to use some creativity and innovative methods for exploring design spaces, selecting concepts and finally come up with an innovative concept associated with a market need and a technology.

Innovation is today at the centre of many economical and corporate discussions. However, creating new services and new products implies finding new methods and transforming the way of apprehending problems. Innovation is at the conjunction of the world of usage and the market, the world of technology and the world of organisation and the firm. Individuals may be creative, but it is the company which innovates in the end.

In the course, we propose to develop and experiment various aspects of creativity, innovation marketing, new innovative design methods, and some legal aspects of innovation property and protection.

• Lectures: 14 x 1.5 hours (21 hours)
Heuristics and creation logics, general creation process, High Tech marketing, innovation marketing, creativity methods, introduction to TRIZ and its tools, IBIS method, innovation protection, patents, brands.

Applying creativity methods
Implementing TRIZ tools
TechOptimizer software
Multi-disciplinary project
Audit

• Project: 7 x 3 hours (21 hours)
Group project: Innovation challenge/competition



Prerequisites


Basics in design methods (functional analysis, value analysis) or engineering project, basics in marketing, basics in group communication.

Tests

  • Project Report + oral presentation.
