Goals

The aim of this course is to give an insight into methods and tools used during information system deployment (needs analysis, functional and technical specifications, software selection, configuration, customization, deployment and change management, operation and use of the system). In this course, the emphasis is on ERP systems (Enterprise Resource Planning). However, other information systems like PLM, MES and CRM are tackled.

At the end of this course, students should be able to contribute actively in ERP deployment projects. They would be aware of the issues and risks associated with such projects and know he most appropriate methods and tools to carry out these projects.

Content

This course deals with ERP systems from two points of view:

• Managerial view: through lectures and industrial examples (presented by engineers coming from industry), this point of view gives an insight on concepts managed in ERP systems, ERP architecture, ERP choice and use of sub-contracting, business process management for setting up an ERP, ERP project management (classic and agile methods) and change management (sociological issues)

• practical view: through a case study which allows students to put into practice some project phases (needs' specifications, ERP customization, test). Two commercial ERP systems are considered: Sage Adonix (proprietary system) and Open ERP (open source)

P12 = Assessment (Sage Adonix project) 1st exam period
E2 = Assessment (written exam) 2nd exam period

N1 = Final mark from the 1st exam period
N2 = Final mark from the 2nd exam period

N1 = (E11*0,2+P11*0,5+P12*0,3)
N2 = Max (N1,E2)
