Goals

The overall objective of this course is to give an insight into modern methods of purchasing management through sessions which deal with general academic presentations (lectures) and others where outside speakers from the industrial field will illustrate real cases and examples.

This course, after a presentation of the strategic and organisational issues of the purchasing function, is primarily orientated on 'supplier relationship' management 'tools' (supplier evaluation, supplier development, negotiation...) AND 'tools' for carrying out the two jobs of a purchaser: 'series purchaser' and 'project purchaser' (product cost analysis, added value of upstream purchases).

At the end of the course, students are able to be involved in a purchasing structure, they are aware of the issues at hand and the tools available.
