Goal(s)

This course provides an opportunity to examine environmental issues in the design and manufacture of products and the value associated with these products. Ecodesign methods and tools are presented and used during TDs (recyclability, choice of materials, LCA, standards, ...). Another part of the course deals with the analysis of demand behaviour, their consideration in the design of supply, public regulation of the marketing of new products.

The student is able to:

  • Mastering societal issues for the development of a new product
  • Assessing product use and environmental impact

Content(s)

We will try to tackle the issues of analysing demand behaviour, taking it into account in the design of supply and public regulation of the marketing of new products.
12h CTD: activity A

  • deal with value in use and provisions to be paid

A second activity will inform the student on the notions of product life cycle analysis, ecoconception, recyclability and environmental impact.
24h CTD: activity B

  • Environmental Impacts (LCA)
  • Recyclability analysis and eco-design

Prerequisites

  • Basic knowledge of product technologies
  • Engineering Design course (S2)
  • Products and Markets course (Product Design-S3)

Test

Continuous assessment (CC): marks for practical works - CC marks does not catch up
CCA: Debriefing and oral presentation for Activity A
CCB: Debriefing and Oral Presentation for Activity B
Evaluations are independent

Mandatory attendance at the teachings, unjustified absences will automatically result in penalties on marks.

Evaluation session 1 (E1) = MCQ
Evaluation session 2 (E2) = written exam

N1 = final mark session 1
N2 = final mark session 2

The jury may decide to move to a higher year subject to deferred validation by this EU.
This decision remains exceptional; the jury is sovereign for each student.

N1= 0,1*E1 + 0,4*CCA + 0,5*CCB
N2= E2
