The SNCF

In France, the SNCF provides train services from all over France to the city of Grenoble. It is also possible to travel from other European countries to Grenoble by train.

To give you an idea, Grenoble by train is:

• 1 hour 20 minutes from Lyon
• 3 hours from Paris
• 3 hours from Marseille
• 4 hours 30 minutes from Lille

There are bus and tram services which operate around the city and serve all of greater Grenoble too. Students can get monthly passes and good rates.

Being essentially flat, Grenoble is also a very bicycle-friendly city with over 120 km of safe cycle paths. There is also the possibility to rent bikes with Métrovélo' and students can get reduced rates. They also offer other services such as bike marking against theft and secure bike garages.
