Goals
The aim of this course is to provide students with the necessary knowledge to model complex discrete event systems and analyse them via simulation. Students will learn about the main steps to follow, in order to carry out and succeed a simulation project. ARENA simulation software will be used throughout the course.
Content - Introduction to discrete event simulation: Elements of discrete event simulation models and main steps of a simulation project.
- Introduction to ARENA simulation software
- Input data analysis
- Verification of a simulation model
- Validation of a simulation model
- Design of experiments for simulation and sensitivity analysis
- Output data analysis : analyzing results of a simulation
The students will carry out a simulation project throughout the course. The project will be supervised and commented by the professor during the dedicated project sessions. However, individual work is required, to accomplish the project goals.
PrerequisitesBasic knowledge on Probability and Statistics.
Tests Evaluation is based on the simulation project and continuous assessment.
- Written Assumptions Report (25%)
- Continuous assessment (25%)
- Final report (50%)
These percentages are compatible with an organization of courses and evaluations in distance learning
The exam is given in english only
Calendar The course exists in the following branches:
- Curriculum - Master GI SIE program - Semester 8 (this course is given in english only
)
