Goal(s)
• Set up the functional requirements of an information system using Unified Modeling Language (UML).
• Provide a viewpoint on the modelling techniques of some Information Technologies which share information in a competitive engineering process.
• The application project is done using MS Access Database.
Content(s)
• Relational databases: main concepts, attributes, entities, tables, constraints, requests.
• SQL language.
• UML as a standard for the design of information systems: Object-Orientated paradigm, classes, objects, association, inheritance, state-charts, sequence diagrams.
• Project management in the domain of information technology: how to drive changes within an organisation.
Tutorials (15 x 1.5 hours):
• Simple business case: information management in a library.
• Information System for Plant Management.
• Product Data Management (using software and development of some additional features).
Project: 12 hours + 12 hours of personal work:
• A case study is done in groups of 2 students: detailed specifications, implementation of the UML model, tables, requests, tests, using MS Access Database.
The project must include:
• Specification documentation (UML, classes, dynamics)
• Users' documentation
• MS Access database
