Goal(s)
The objective of the teaching unit is to put into practice as concretely as possible the knowledge acquired during the previous semesters, in particular in design methods and processes, project management, ergonomics tools, prototyping principles and technologies.
The main goal is therefore to give students practical knowledge and skills that complement the learning already acquired during previous teaching units. Their concrete applications in real life situations, with demanding users and demanding customers constitute the originality of this teaching unit.
Content(s)
3 times dedicated to reminders of skills already acquired by certain students or which will be acquired thanks to the staging:
1. Ergonomics technology and tools: A few reminders of product design methods, ergonomics tools, rapid prototyping technologies and 3D printing.
2. Physical education and sports: Reminder of notions of motricity and physical activity in connection with problems of adaptation in the field of ergonomics and/or sensory-motor disability
3. Occupational therapy and user approach (intervention of health professionals): Observation techniques and tools for diagnosing the capacities of users may be taught in order to allow students an approach as close as possible to the needs and capacities of future users of the products
Presentations of examples of product realizations to specific users should allow students to positively apprehend the scenarios proposed next.
The main working times will then be carried out in direct relation with users and its institution. The phases will be dedicated to the analysis of the need(s) with the users, the drafting and validation of the specifications, the production of successive prototypes, associated tests in real situations, the validation of a final functional prototype if possible.
One of the challenges of the course will also be the ability of each student to work in a highly interdisciplinary situation with M2 students from STAPS (Physical Education and Sports) courses, also having an Ergonomics module in their training and some training students in Occupational Therapy who may also occasionally be present at some stages of the product development process.
PrerequisitesSTAPS and GI students:
- Ideally have followed ergonomics courses, to know the tools such as the analysis of the activity and the associated grids
- Know how to use various rapid prototyping and 3D printing tools
It is a plus if students are naturally motivated to go in contact with the end user, several times during the semester to meet the users and customers of the project. They are all in Grenoble or in the nearby agglomeration
Session 1 (N1):
The evaluation is based on two intermediate (P1) and final (P2) presentations covering the different stages of product development and technological achievements. Part of the evaluation will also depend on the way the project is managed in relation to customers and users and with students from other training courses (physical and sports education and occupational therapy).
N1 = (P1+P2)/2
Session 2 (L2):
oral (E2 mark)
N2 = E2
Within the framework of this present teaching, the attendance of a student can have an impact on the calculation of the mark of continuous control: for example a penalty by absence, which can go until a zero at the session 1 in case repeated absences...).
