Goal(s)
the objectives of the course are to develop competencies in use, analysis of key design and product developement tools used in engineering design.
the cours focus on key methods and tools used to ensure quality and performance of engineering design processes.
focus is not on product specific technology even if product studies are manufactured and assembled products.
At the end of the course student should be able to :
- understand and analyse organization of a product development process
- formalise and model user requirements into functional model and design specification
- Analyse and propose product architecture
- Improve assemblability of manufactured product.
- Analyze product cost and organize cost reduction action.
while the course aims to develop practical skills about engineering tools the student will be asked to develop also theoretical knowledge about current research in product design.

the course will use a product as case study to illustrate and manipulate studied tools
Group work will be asked to analyse the product and eventually propose modification or
