Goal(s)
• Discover topical issues and current events of the country/ies of the target language and its/their situation in an international context.
• Know about the geography, civilisation, history and tourist aspects of the country/ies concerned by the language studied.
• Learn economic, political, ecological and cultural vocabulary.
Content(s)
Topics covered in class: life in a company, current economic and social issues (using a variety of different documents and material).
One session per fortnight in the language lab.
Activities: tutorials, discussions, role plays, presentation of newsletters, problem solving etc...
Speaking:
• Organise a trip with a specific theme and present it orally in front of the class.
• Or present a film orally in front of the class.
• Or organise an internship abroad.
• Or organise a debate on current affairs (groups of 2).
• Or present a film + a debate.
Tutorial (group of 2):
• Debate - pros and cons - on any topic (30 minutes).
• Present a character or an event from a photo + exchange with the class.
Listening:
• Short video / audio reports on topics studied.
Writing:
• Report on a presentation and exchange with the class / Essay.
Reading:
• Read texts and news articles.
Grammar revision:
• Review key grammatical points.
Must have met the assessment requirements of the first year (S1 and S2).
- 30% exam (comprehension of oral and written documents, essay, grammar & vocabulary exercises)
- 70% continual assessment (based on class activities, attendance, class and language laboratory participation)
