Goal(s)
Overseeing the development of problematic international projects, especially in Low Cost Countries, requires an analysis of the position of the firm in a worldwide competitive context. There are three main axes to take into account when analysing the issues and the ways of implementing and developing activities:
1) Management-positioning of the firm through strategy and capability planning.
2) Finance & Economy-real-time strategic response through issue management, finance, organisational design and industrial organisation.
3) Organisational design-systematic management of resistance during strategic implementation.
Methodology: Conceptual framework and empirical application of international development of the firm.

Lectures 42 x 1.5 hours
Introduction:
• WTO, States, International trade and commercial policy
• Monetary policy, foreign currency policy and commercial impact
The firm in a global environment:
• Strategic dimensions of internationalisation
• Implanting Strategic Management
• Evolution of challenges and implanting Strategic Management in a Low Cost context
• Joint Ventures (case study in China)
• Management capabilities for internationalisation
• Book-keeping and financial reporting in the global firm
• Technological change, Research and Development and Strategic Advantages of Internationalisation
• Environmental surveillance and benchmarking
• Advantages and difficulties encountered when implanting strategic management in a multicultural environment.
Basic knowledge in Economics, firm and organisation management.
- Individual work: 40 hours
- 1st exam period: continual assessment (study case) = 50% / written exam = 50%
